We totally heart magazines, and don't want tangible publications to disappear, but we're aware that printing zillions of issues - and having the majority go to waste - is not only too costly, it's also very wasteful and eco-unfriendly.
So we thought, "Wouldn't it be cool if we could do a Magazine in a waste-conscious manner, and have it go directly into the hands of the very fashion-loving people who want independent style that's truly 'International'?"
And thus, we came up with a nifty little way to do just that! We are a very limited, and independent publication - by design - and all this means, is that Au Courant has made the decision to have a very small circulation, and to utilize an 'on-demand' distribution policy.
We create a small number of Collectible Print Publications for International direct delivery - when they run out, that's it - and we Web-Publish our monthly mini-magazine, so that everyone who has access to the internet, can get into the goodness, whenever and wherever they want. For free.
To break it down, Au Courant Magazine delivers on International Style + Caribbean Aesthetic in three ways, with:
- The Collectible Print Publication :- A glossy, limited print coffee-table style 'Mag-Book,' that's directly mailed, on demand. Each and every page is filled with our own, Advertising-free, original content. Because of this, the price-per-issue is a bit higher than the average, commercial magazine.
- The Monthly, Digital Magazine :- A totally FREE, mini-magazine, that's published entirely online. You can read it right here on AuCourantMag.com, on our blog, or direct from your inbox, when you subscribe to our updates.
- The Daily, Online Blog :- The original home of Au Courant. The blog was formed in 2007 by our Editor-in-Chief, as a way to fend off homesickness, and as something to keep her busy whilst adjusting to a new life in Manhattan, NYC.
